
NRMA is pleased to announce the names of organisations that have been successful in the NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants for 2011.
This year, the NRMA has awarded $100,000 in grants for 54 new road safety programs that address a range of road safety issues including road safety around schools, pedestrian, bike, bus and car safety for children and scooter safety for mobility-impaired or older users.

NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety grant program is in its tenth year and the response has been amazing, with hundreds of grant submissions received demonstrating clearly that the community is seeking to find ways to enhance the safety, confidence and independence of road users at all ages.
NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants provide community organisations a share of $100,000 to implement road safety initiatives which make a real difference at the local level.
These grants are available to all government and not for profit organisations in NSW and ACT.
General Community – Grants of up to $5,000 for community based road safety initiatives
This grant will provide financial support to communities to address local road safety issues. There is no specific target group for this grant. The judges will be looking for interesting and innovative initiatives and education programs which address safety issues for road users of any age, be they drivers, passengers, pedestrians or cyclists.
High Schools – 10 Grants of $1,000 to support road safety education at school
This grant assists high schools fund the creation of a road safety project related to any area of the curriculum. It may be a whole school activity or may be specifically targeted to a particular cohort. The judges will be looking for submissions that actively involve students and communicate a strong road safety message. This grant is open to teachers and/or parent representative groups who have received authorisation from the school principal.
Primary Schools – 10 Grants of $1,000 to support road safety education at school
This grant assists high schools fund the creation of a road safety project related to any area of the curriculum. Interactive Whiteboard presentations – 10 grants of $1,000 for primary or high schools
This grant seeks to assist primary schools and high schools with creating digital learning resources in the area of road safety. This grant can be used to release teachers from face-to-face teaching to give them time to create new digital teaching resources. These resources will be shared with other schools across NSW and ACT.
Youth based organisations – 10 Grants of $1,000 to support road safety education
This grant provides youth-based organisations such as university/college groups, sporting clubs, PCYC, Scouts/Guides or schools to create new and innovative road safety programs or initiatives to raise awareness about road safety amongst young people.
Infants and Preschool – 4 Grants of $2,500 to keep our youngest road users safe
This grant will support programs which educate parents, caregivers or the community about how to keep infants and preschoolers safe in cars or as pedestrians.
Older Road Users – 4 Grants of $2,500 for programs addressing the needs older road users
This grant will provide funds for the development and implementation of programs and initiatives focussed on increasing the safety of older road users as drivers, passengers or pedestrians.
