Youth Off The Streets

NRMA is working with Youth Off The Streets  to support key programs in NSW.

Youth Off The Streets (YOTS) is a non-denominational and non-discriminatory charity assisting young people aged 12-21 years who are dealing with issues of homelessness, abuse and neglect, exclusion from school and drug and alcohol dependency.

Homeless in Sydney

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report released in July 2009 there were 27,374 homeless people living in NSW.

NRMA have recently committed to support the Youth Off The Streets Food Van, delivering a hot meal to the homeless in inner city Sydney every night of the year.

NRMA provides funding to buy food supplies for the van and also provides staff volunteers each month to help out.

Community Outreach

NRMA is proud to support a range of activities including the Community Outreach program in Doonside, Western Sydney, where they have begun to engage young people from the community through a variety of positive activities.

Doonside has higher than state average crime rates and increasingly young people are becoming involved in crime and anti-social behaviour. The program is an early-intervention strategy aimed at strengthening bonds within the community.

Employment Opportunities

NRMA is also proud to provide real employment opportunities for young people. Recently, a YOTS young person, has been employed as an apprentice mechanic at NRMA Motorserve in Sydney.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
