Leukaemia Foundation

sample

The Leukaemia Foundation works to reduce the impact of all blood cancers - leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma - and related blood disorders for people throughout Australia.

Every 46 minutes someone in Australia is diagnosed with a blood cancer or related disorder. There are 40,000 people living with these diseases in our community today.

They provide personalised support for the patient and their loved ones, all free of charge and fund cutting-edge research to improve treatments and find cures.

Mission to Care

The Leukaemia Foundation rely on volunteer drivers to operate their free patient transport service in NSW. In one year their cars can travel 850,000km (equivalent to over 21 times around the earth).

Graham Lees has been a volunteer driver for four years.

“It is a privilege to be able to contribute my time to this valuable service” said Graham.

“The free transport service enables people to get to their treatment safely without having to use public transport, which could potentially increase their risk of developing infection.”

In 2011/12, NRMA staff will be supporting a patient transport vehicle and providing staff volunteer drivers to this valuable service.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
