Author: NRMA MediaDate: 22 December 2010

Community groups, schools and individuals throughout NSW and the ACT will have their New Year sporting goals given a helping boost as winners of NRMA's 2010 Everyday Sporting Legends program.

NRMA Motoring & Services President Wendy Machin said this year’s program was a phenomenal success with $150,000 worth of Rebel Sport gift cards awarded to 100 passionate teams, schools and individuals.

"The top five winners, awarded with a $10,000 Rebel Sport gift card, impressed judges with their online entries made up of photos, video and creative writing," Ms Machin said.

"Thirty five schools and teams have also received $2,000 gift cards and 60 individuals a $500 gift card.

"It is a real pleasure for the NRMA to be able to help local communities to pursue their sporting dreams."

$10,000 Rebel Sport gift card winners:

  • Alex Park School, Alexandria, NSW
  • Greenlees Netball Club, Concord, NSW
  • St Pats of Sutherland Baseball Team, Woronora Heights, NSW

NRMA Regional Policy Specialist Ron Collins presented the Big Issue Soccer Team with their prize this week and said the award was a big surprise to the players who had been entered secretly by their coach, Tim Skinner.

"The reaction from the team once they heard the news was very moving," Mr Collins said.

"The team will now be able to buy much-needed equipment and uniforms."

Rebel Sport is part of the NRMA's More4Members rewards program which gives Members access to a vast range of instant discounts and benefits.
