Central Coast Should Not Be Forgotten In Budget

Author: NRMADate: 02 June 2008

The critical Brisbane Waters Drive overpass is among a number of critical road projects the State Government needs to fund in this week’s budget.

NRMA Motoring & Services Director, Kyle Loades, said Mr Loades said Gosford residents expected tomorrow’s Budget to commit funds once and for all to the long over-due Brisbane Water Drive/Manns Road over-pass.

"At the last election the State Government promised Central Coast residents a flyover - it’s now time to keep that promise," Mr Loades said.

"This is a major thoroughfare in the heart of one of the State's fastest growing areas. It is a unique intersection because it receives double peak traffic - local traffic and traffic heading towards and returning from Sydney.

"If the Government doesn't commit to the flyover tomorrow they will be forced to pay twice by building a much more expensive fly-over later on.

"Motorists are sick of being stuck at this intersection waiting for the Government to act."

The NRMA Budget submission to the State Government also included:

  • Wyong Centre traffic solutions
  • Traffic flow and safety solutions on the Old Pacific Highway/ Wyong Rd roundabout

"We need to the State Government to commit to short-term traffic solutions for the Wyong Town Centre," Mr Loades said.

"This has to happen now because the upgrade of the Old Pacific Highway from Tuggerah is not scheduled to finish for another two to three years."

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
