Greener Pastures For Local Roads

Author: NRMADate: 04 June 2008

NRMA Motoring & Services local Director Gary Punch has welcomed the State Government’s injection of $51 million in funding for Liverpool roads including $25 million for Cowpasture Road.

"Local residents have been assured that the widening of Cowpasture Road from Main Street to Camden Valley Way will be completed by July 2009 courtesy of a $13 million promise from the Iemma Government," Mr Punch said.

"Several projects have been earmarked to receive vital funding in 2008/09, ensuring Liverpool roads are safer and less congested.

"Cowpasture Road will continue to be widened between the M7 Motorway and North Liverpool Road to the tune of $12 million, while upgrades are planned for Camden Valley Way ($11 million) and Hoxton Park Road ($15 million).

"The funds attributed to these projects form part of the record $400 million increase on road spending this Budget, however there still a long way to go to delivering the road network that south-western Sydney motorists need.

"The NRMA will continue to lobby on behalf of local residents for additional lanes on the M5 Motorway. “It is a proven fact that motorists use 40% less petrol on motorways."

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
