Meeting Of The Hire Minds

Meeting Of The Hire Minds

Author: NRMADate: 10 June 2008

One hundred NRMA Motoring & Services BusinessWise clients will converge on Eastern Creek International Raceway this Thursday at Australia’s first ever business-use vehicles show.

Fleet managers from NSW and ACT, responsible for some 100,000 fleet and hire vehicles, will hear from industry professionals and test vehicles from eleven manufacturers during the inaugural Australian Business Auto Industry Day, hosted by Australian Business Auto and NRMA BusinessWise.

NRMA President Alan Evans said the event was the first of its kind allowing fleet buyers to hear from industry professionals through a range of business seminars and test vehicles in such a diverse range of environments at the one venue.

"Fleet managers will be able to self-test around 100 different vehicles on the day at the skid pan, corporate hill and 4WD circuits and participate as a passenger during a radical hot lap and skid circuit session," Mr Evans said.

"The testing is preluded by seminar talks from industry specialists while attendees will also visit manufacturer marquees and network with peers, forming the ultimate environment to evaluate business-use vehicles.

"The NRMA will be reducing the carbon footprint of the event by working alongside a certified environmental impact assessment company and taking steps to minimise any impact that is a direct result of show activities."

Activities at the inaugural Australian Business Auto Industry Day include:

  • eleven manufacturer displays and various industry marquees.
  • the P1 Supercar Club marquee featuring the cream of their super-car fleet.
  • five discussion sessions: legal, driver psychology, OH&S, security and vehicle stability control.
  • five driver sessions: radical hot lap, safety skid pan, corporate hill drive, 4WD experience and vehicle stability control skid circuit.
  • NRMA MotorServe and other NRMA companies.

Mr Evans said fleet managers would leave the event with a complete hands-on knowledge of business-use vehicle options, equipping them to make the best fleet purchasing decisions for their business.

"The success of this inaugural event is expected to be a stepping stone to similar future events in other states," Mr Evans said.
