NRMA And Transport Minister Seek North - West Motoring Solutions

Author: NRMA Media Date: 24 October 2008

North - West Sydney NRMA Motoring & Services Director Coral Taylor aired the thoughts of thousands of North -West Sydney motorists during a meeting with NSW Minister for Transport David Campbell yesterday.

Ms Taylor wrote to Mr Campbell and requested the meeting after analysing feedback obtained from recent NRMA Local Motorists' Forums held in North -West Sydney and receiving numerous pleas from local NRMA Members.

"The NRMA has a long history of working in conjunction with state governments in developing solutions to traffic, transport and road safety issues,"Ms Taylor said.

"North -West Sydney motorists wanted their concerns to be known and the NRMA is the conduit for delivering these messages."

The round - table discussion included the upcoming legislative inquiry into North -West Sydney Sector Transport, Park and Ride facilities and Sydney's missing road links.

Ms Taylor said improving safety near schools using traffic calming devices, flashing lights and highly visible signs was also important to North -West Sydney communities.

"Motorists want improved public transport options through greater Park and Ride facilities near railway stations, Ms Taylor said.

Road construction was also at the forefront of discussions.

Ms Taylor said widening the M2, constructing the F3 to M2 Sydney orbital link road and accelerating the construction of the M4 East extension were mooted as potential solutions to alleviate congestion.

"The next step from here is ensuring positives outcomes occur for North -West Sydney motorists" Ms Taylor said.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
