NRMA Supports Road Safety In Coonamble

Author: NRMA MediaDate: 21 April 2008

NRMA's touring Mobile Member Centre will bring road safety education and a range of travel and lifestyle ideas to Coonamble from Tuesday 29 April at the community's annual Coonamble Show.

NRMA Director Graham Blight said the Coonamble Show would be a great opportunity for people living in the region to visit NRMA's Mobile Member Centre after the school holidays and get some vital motoring safety tips in preparation for their next trip.

"Families looking to escape for a driving holiday should take the time to prepare their trip in advance and get plenty of rest before starting out," Mr Blight said.

"Families can get advice on how to prepare and pack their cars for road trips and also learn how to make travelling with the kids and pets safe and enjoyable.

"Cramped cars and map reading problems along with noisy and restless children can cause the most patient parent to become irritable.

"A range of NRMA's travel and lifestyle publications will also be on sale at the show. Travellers will especially appreciate periodicals such as NRMA's Caravan & RV magazine which has a wealth of motoring ideas and tips."

The Mobile Member Centre will provide Coonamble Show-goers with:

  • The opportunity to sign up for Free2go, NRMA's FREE roadside assistance for 17 and 18 year olds. At the same time youth can test their skills on the motorways and practice hand-eye coordination on newly-installed Xbox consoles.
  • Demonstrations of NRMA's Travel Planner with over 15 million driving maps to save motorists time and petrol when holidaying.
  • Interactive crash test videos of a large variety of makes and models and online road safety activities to highlight road, vehicle and driver safety.
Latest safety fact sheets and information about alternative fuel.

Mr Blight said it was NRMA, Volvo Trucks and Subaru's longstanding partnership in safety that made it possible to provide practical ways of demonstrating road safety to the public.

NRMA's Mobile Member Centre will be on display at the Coonamble Show Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 April 2008 (9:00am to 5:00pm). Location: Oaks Road, Coonamble.
