As Olympic Games fever sweeps the nation, more than 150 long-term NRMA Members will be thinking gold of a different kind at Wednesday's NRMA Motoring & Services' Gold and Gold Life Member Roadshow, being held at Armidale for the first time.
Local NRMA Director Graham Blight said that Gold and Gold Life Members who have shared a relationship with Australia's largest mutual for so long would have a day out to remember.
"Our Members are of the utmost importance to us - without them there would be no NRMA," Mr Blight said.
"It's wonderful for us to be able to honour the people that have been with us for such a long time with an event such as Wednesday's Gold and Gold Life Member Roadshow."
Attractions at the Roadshow include the NRMA's state-of-the-art Mobile Member Centre, filled with fun and educational road safety activities.
Roadshow-goers will be mesmerised by the impressive display of classic vehicles and memorabilia from the 1920's to the present day at the Vintage Vehicles display.
Mr Blight said maintaining regular contact with Armidale regional Members and surrounding them with NRMA services was pertinent to the company's "More for Members" strategy.
"We will be opening up an NRMA Safer Driving School in Armidale later this year while further forums and shows are planned for the future," Mr Blight said.
"Our Safer Driving Schools teach learner drivers more than just how to get their licence.
"They will learn safer attitudes, habits and skills to serve them well as drivers for years to come and enable them to cope with common situations and risks on the road."
The NRMA Gold Member Roadshow will be held at The Wright Centre, University of New England from 11.00am to 3.00pm. The Mobile Member Centre and vintage vehicles display open from 9.00am. Mr Blight is available for interview from 8.00am to 11.00am.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
