NRMA Director Gary Punch spoke at a special presentation for senior drivers from the Nepean District Historical Society at The Museum in Emu Plains this week.
The NRMA Years Ahead program explores road rules, crash prevention, safer driving tips, vehicle and pedestrian safety and physical fitness.
Mr Punch said that the Years Ahead program had reinforced important road safety messages to more than 10,000 senior drivers from 220 community groups last year.
"As part of the NRMA’s commitment to road safety, the program is free to allow as many senior drivers attend as possible," Mr Punch said.
"Years Ahead presenters visit senior’s group locations throughout NSW/ACT and give older drivers a chance to update their knowledge.
"The program is very popular with older drivers who are generally very experienced, courteous and law abiding.
"Over time however, roads have transformed from single lane thoroughfares to multi-lane freeways while many intersections contain roundabouts nowadays.
"These are just some of the changes older drivers have lived through."The Nepean District Historical Society thanked Mr Punch for his address which featured up-to-date statistics and video footage to drive home key road and vehicle safety issues.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
