War On The Big Four

War On The Big Four

Author: NRMA MediaDate: 06 March 2008

The NRMA has fired another salvo to get a fairer petrol deal for motorists with an inside story on Australia’s petrol industry in this month’s The Open Road magazine.

The Open Road special report highlights NRMA’s campaign against Australia’s four oil giants for fairer and more transparent petrol prices.

Mr Evans said nothing ignited such anger and passion amongst motorists like the petrol rort currently gripping Australia.

"It is one issue NRMA members look to us to fight on their behalf and it is fitting that our very public campaign is chronicled in this special edition of the Open Road," Mr Evans said.

"The story certainly pulls no punches.”

The Open Road special feature is a must-read for any motorist confused by how prices are determined in Australia. It will cover:

  • How oil companies rip motorists off.
  • How prices are set in Australia.
  • The findings of the ACCC’s inquiry into petrol prices.
  • How prices affect Australian households and the economy.
  • The appointment of Australia’s Petrol Commissioner.
  • What needs to happen before motorists can declare victory against the oil giants.

"NRMA's campaign has led to the appointment of the Petrol Commissioner but our work is far from done," Mr Evans said.

"It is essential the Commissioner is given the powers to not only catch oil companies ripping us off, but order them to drop their prices to fairer levels so that motorists are compensated.

"The NRMA will not give up its war against the oil companies until this is achieved."

The Open Road is Australia’s highest circulated magazine. It will reach the homes of over 1.6 million NRMA members in the first week of March.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
