NRMA Parkes and NRMA Batteries today donated $2,500 to Parkes community groups Can Assist Parkes, Parkes Mens Shed, Middleton School and Black Saturday Victorian bushfire victim Darrin Gibson.
NRMA Batteries conducts four NRMA Country Service Centre (CSC) promotions throughout the year whereby $20,000 is donated to eight communities in regional NSW.
For every battery sold over their target, each CSC receives an entry into a state-wide draw to win $2,500 towards a community initiative. NRMA Parkes was last month's lucky winner.
NRMA Parkes decided to divide the money up to enable them to assist three local groups and Mr Gibson.
Can Assist will use the funds to assist local cancer patients with financial support for travelling, accommodation and medication expenses. Mens Shed is constructing a computer room, while Middleton School will purchase classroom resources such as musical instruments and mathematical equipment.
NRMA Director Graham Blight was pleased that the Parkes community was the beneficiary of NRMA Parkes' outstanding battery sales.
"It's fantastic that NRMA Parkes and NRMA Batteries support members of their local communities by donating funds to support them through difficult times," Mr Blight said.
This year, NRMA CSC's have already provided $17,500 in donations to local community groups. This money has gone towards local community initiatives including equipment for special needs children in Casino and Yamba, a swimming pool enclosure at Pambula, medical equipment at Gilgandra Lodge and surgery for a seriously ill child at Lemon Tree Passage.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
