The Australian Government should use this year's Federal Budget to deliver the F3 to Branxton link.
In its submission to the Federal Budget, NRMA Motoring & Services has outlined 16 key NSW road projects that desperately need funding in order to keep NSW moving.
Local NRMA Director Kyle Loades said the current economic climate offered the Australian Government the perfect opportunity to fix the dangerous stretch of road featuring constantly changing speed limits and black spots.
"Hunter residents have waited long enough for the F3 to Branxton link," Mr Loades said.
"The Australian Government needs to invest in major projects that will provide a much-needed boost to Australia's largest economy and provide first-class infrastructure for future generations.
"If the Prime Minister and the Treasurer are going to spend in order to bolster the economy, then it should be on projects like the F3 to Branxton link that will have short and long term benefits.
"By committing the resources to at least one of these major projects, the Government will create jobs and economic activity in NSW."
The NRMA submission also lists key road projects for the Government to fund including the F3 to M2/M7, and the Pacific Highway. Mr Loades said the Federal Budget should also include a serious commitment to address Australia's long-term energy future.
"At the end of this economic downturn regional powerhouses India and China will have a renewed thirst for oil and Australian motorists are likely to be exposed to petrol prices higher than we’ve ever seen before," Mr Loades said.
"The United States has outlined its strategy to end North America's dependence on foreign oil, our Government must release Australia's plan."
