NRMA Motoring & Services will team up with the Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre in Dubbo today to give local senior drivers the tools they need to stay confident and safe on country roads.
NRMA Director Graham Blight will be presenting at two NRMA road safety seminars in Dubbo today.
Mr Blight said older drivers were eager to learn more about how to negotiate changes to the RTA's licensing laws for people aged over 75 and learn more about safer driving techniques.
"The NRMA's Years Ahead seminars give older drivers the knowledge they need to be safer on the roads," Mr Blight said.
"Safer driving tips, crash prevention, road rules, vehicle and pedestrian safety, physical fitness and alternative transport options are all explored.
"Having a driver's licence is an important part of staying independent and that's why the NRMA is helping people to keep driving as long as possible.
"We want older drivers to maintain their independence, stay mobile and stay safe."
Last August the NRMA held a Motorists Forum in Dubbo with feedback given that confusing road rules and changes to the RTA's driver licensing system were big causes for concern among older drivers.
Mr Blight said the NRMA was proud to be partnering with the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre Orana to give older drivers in remote North West NSW access to education to help them stay driving longer and more safely.
As part of the NRMA's commitment to road safety, the program is free and convenient as presenters come to senior's group locations throughout NSW/ACT. The informative and informal
presentation features up-to-date statistics and video footage.
For more information on future NRMA Years Ahead seminars to be held in the Orana region please call the Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre on 1800 052 222.
The NRMA's new older drivers online resource at www.mynrma.com.au/olderdrivers also has practical advice and a broad range of information specifically to address the needs of senior drivers.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
