The Australian Government has used this year's Federal Budget to deliver funding for the F3 to Branxton Link, delivering a massive victory to Hunter road users who have waited years for the connection to be built.
NRMA Motoring & Services Director Kyle Loades said the F3 to Branxton Link would create a safer thoroughfare for motorists and truck drivers and contribute a major economic injection into the Hunter region.
"The Australian Government will invest $1.5 billion in the link, while the NSW Government will invest $200 million - this is a fantastic result for the Hunter," Mr Loades said.
"Work will commence in 2010 and is expected to be completed by 2013, resulting in a dual carriageway that will eliminate deadly black spots and constantly changing speed limits.
"The NRMA has been campaigning for the F3 to Branxton Link for years, along with local lobby groups including the Hunter Business Chamber and Link or Sink action group.
"The NRMA is delighted that the Australian Government has recognised the need for the F3 to Branxton Link by delivering this long-overdue project."
