NRMA Appoints New Travel Head

NRMA Motoring & Services today announced the appointment of Carl Frier as CEO of the organisation's travel business Tourism & Leisure Holdings (TLH).

TLH comprises NRMA's wholly owned wholesale travel companies Adventure World Travel, Coral Seas, Creative Cruising and Value Tours as well as the company's retail travel business NRMA Travel.

Carl Frier joined Adventure World Travel in July 2007 as Group General Manager following NRMA's acquisition of its majority stake in the company.

Mr Frier was formerly Executive General Manager Product of the Jetset Travelworld Group and brings more than 22 years of retail, airline and consolidation experience in the travel and tourism sector.

NRMA Group CEO Tony Stuart said, "Carl’s experience and understanding of the travel and tourism sector will be invaluable as we seek to expand our presence in this sector in what is a challenging time for both inbound and outbound tourism operators."

NRMA also announced that Mr Peter Newsom will be stepping down from his executive role with Adventure World Travel, but would continue to be involved with the company in a consulting capacity.

Mr Newsom founded Adventure World Travel thirty years ago as a pioneer of tours from Australia to India, Africa and South America and the company has since grown to become a leading wholesaler of travel packages in Australia and New Zealand.
