The volunteer efforts of Oyster Bay resident and 22 year old builder Josh Doyle have shone out from almost 450 nominations to win the prestigious Young Award for this year's NRMA Helping People Awards.
NRMA's Helping People Awards annually recognise the efforts of hardworking volunteers from NSW and the ACT who volunteer for a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
NRMA Motoring & Services Deputy President Michael Tynan said Josh has been volunteering in the Sutherland Shire for more than five years and won the Youth Award for his inspirational work with SeeChange Community Services.
"Josh began working with SeeChange through their REACH Program which brings young people together to make a positive difference to the community," Mr Tynan said.
"SeeChange Community Services does such incredibly important work to help young people with addictions, depression, self-esteem or other troubling issues to turn their lives around and get back on the right track.
"Josh donates his time and own equipment to help with a range of backyard blitzes, community work and school landscaping.
"Without meaning to be, Josh has become an inspiration to those around him with his down-to-earth attitude towards helping people and getting projects done.
"Most recently Josh brought a group of workers together to do a backyard blitz for a local gentleman who has been selflessly driving a PCYC bus for four years. Josh cleared the overgrown backyard and drove his own bobcat for three days to get the yard finished.
"Josh Doyle represents the special kind of person that the NRMA is proud to recognise and reward through its annual Helping People Awards."
As winner of the 2009 NRMA Helping People Youth Award, Josh will get to experience Queensland and the Gold Coast with a five night package for two at the Travelodge Brisbane Gateway Hotel including flights and a Three Park Fun Pass.
Josh's $5000 donation will go towards further developing the work and resources of SeeChange Community Services. Josh and the other three deserving winners of the Senior, Environmental and Community Awards attended a special presentation ceremony at the NRMA's Head Office in Sydney today to receive their awards.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
