Pacific Highway Budget Boost

Pacific Highway Budget Boost

Author: NRMA Motoring & ServicesDate: 13 May 2009

NRMA Motoring & Services has welcomed the extra $618 million to build the Pacific Highway's Kempsey bypass.

NRMA President Wendy Machin said the funding injection for the Pacific Highway would help save lives and improve the state of Australia's most important road.

"Two-thirds of the Pacific Highway is yet to be upgraded to an acceptable standard but with every announcement like this we get one step closer to achieving our goal of a dual divided carriageway," Ms Machin said.

"The Pacific Highway is the nation's most important road and completing the upgrade by 2016 must be a priority for the Australian and NSW Governments.

"This budget announcement will be welcomed by north coast residents who have waited long enough for their highway to be upgraded."
