Gordon Helping Hand, Jaycinta Pitson has been nominated in this year's NRMA Helping People Awards for her outstanding contribution to the community.
Jaycinta Pitson has been nominated for a Community Volunteer Award for her work with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF.
NRMA Director Alan Evans said NRMA launched the Helping People Awards in 2005 to shine a light on volunteers who rarely get recognised for their important community work.
"Ms Pitson's work in the community is an inspiring example of helping others and I encourage people to nominate a volunteer they know who also does amazing work," Mr Evans said.
Fellow JDRF co-worker Jessica Fredin said she nominated Ms Pitson for her dedication to the foundation and the hard work she does to raise funds to help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes.
"Jaycinta has a daughter and husband with Type 1 Diabetes and speaks to newly diagnosed families and organises family picnics for all those affected," Ms Fredin said.
"Jaycinta is an invaluable member of the foundation. When JRDF had no staff member in Canberra she helped to organise and run our annual Walk to Cure Diabetes."
It's not too late to nominate someone you know who is a real Helping Hand. Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 16 July 2010:
The four winners will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two.
