Beverly Hills Helping Hand, Eric Bennett has been nominated in this year's NRMA Helping People Awards for his outstanding contribution to the community.
Eric Bennett, 87, has been nominated for a Senior Volunteer Award for his twelve years of work with Calvary Health Care Sydney which provides a comprehensive range of palliative care and rehabilitation services to the community.
NRMA Deputy President Michael Tynan said NRMA launched the Helping People Awards in 2005 to shine a light on volunteers who rarely get recognised for their important community work.
"Mr Bennet's work in the community is an inspiring example of helping others and I encourage people to nominate a volunteer they know who also does amazing work," Mr Tynan said.
Mrs Penny Zafiropoulos, who works at Calvary Health Care Sydney, said she nominated Eric for an NRMA award because of his incredible passion for helping others.
"Eric has been a volunteer at Calvary Health Care Sydney since 1998 after his wife passed away here 14 years ago and no request is ever too much for him," Mrs Zafiropoulos said.
"He is a generous soul who helps in so many ways, from preparing files for nursing staff when they visit patients in the community to fundraising or bringing in and watering flowers.
"It would give us all so much joy if Eric were to receive this award."
It's not too late to nominate someone you know who is a real Helping Hand. Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 16 July 2010:
The four winners will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two.
