Double Demerits In School Zones

Double Demerits In School Zones

Author: NRMA MediaDate: 23 April 2010

NRMA Motoring & Services is reminding NSW motorists that double demerit points are enforced today around school zones.

NRMA President Wendy Machin said that for example, drivers caught doing 70 km/h in a school zone during 8-9.30am or 2.30-4pm today will lose their licence on the spot.

"There's no excuse for speeding anywhere - especially around school communities," Ms Machin said.

“Many families will be going away for the long weekend and may be travelling on unfamiliar roads. It's their responsibility to be aware of school zones and slow down."

The NRMA is pleased to see more fluorescent yellow signs and dragon's teeth markings in school zones across the State.

Ms Machin said these warnings help drivers become more aware when they are entering a school zone.

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
