Grafton Base Hospital Has 2,500 Reasons To Smile

Author: NRMA MediaDate: 10 March 2010

NRMA Grafton and NRMA Batteries today donated $2,500 to the Children's Ward at Grafton Base Hospital.

NRMA Batteries conducts four NRMA country battery sale promotions throughout the year whereby $20,000 is donated to eight communities in regional NSW.

For every battery sold over the target, each service provider received an entry into a state-wide draw to win $2,500 towards a community initiative. NRMA Grafton road service provider Motortorque Automotive was last month's lucky winner.

Grafton Base Hospital has been raising money for a children's defibrillator and the $2,500 will go towards this cost of making this important purchase.

Currently, the hospital uses an adult defibrillator on children and the purchase of a children's model will ensure loved ones can know their children are receiving medical procedure using the most appropriate equipment.

NRMA President Wendy Machin said it was fantastic that NRMA Grafton and NRMA Batteries supported their local community by donating funds to five important Maclaey Valley organisations.

The NRMA Batteries promotion has been running since 2008 and has provided more than $30,000 in donations to local community groups. The money has gone towards local community initiatives including equipment for special needs children in Casino and Yamba, a swimming pool enclosure at Pambula and medical equipment at Gilgandra Lodge.

EDITOR'S NOTE: A presentation to Grafton Base Hospital will take place at Motortorque Automotive, 36 Swallow Rd, South Grafton on Wednesday 10 March at 1.30pm.
