Hawks Nest Helping Hand, Stephen Howell has been nominated in this year's NRMA Helping People Awards for his outstanding contribution to the community.
Stephen Howell has been nominated for a Community Volunteer Award for his twelve years of work with the Tea Gardens Hawks Nest Surf Lifesaving Club.
NRMA Director Kyle Loades said NRMA launched the Helping People Awards in 2005 to shine a light on volunteers who rarely get recognised for their important community work.
"Mr Howell's work in the community is an inspiring example of helping others and I encourage people to nominate a volunteer they know who also does amazing work," Mr Loades said.
Club Secretary Mrs Maxine Cook said she nominated Stephen for an award because of his endless hours of volunteer surf lifesaving beach patrols and willingness to assist in all levels of Club activity.
"Stephen is always ready to jump in and help with training, gear and club maintenance, mentoring (young and not so young members), counselling after major incidents, social activities and fund raising," Mrs Cook said.
"Stephen makes himself available to all members 24/7 and really deserves some recognition for his efforts."
It's not too late to nominate someone you know who is a real Helping Hand. Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 13 August 2010:
The four winners will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two.
