Hyundai has added another safe vehicle to its fleet after the i45 scored a 5-star ANCAP rating in the latest round of ANCAP results released by the NSW Centre for Road Safety and NRMA Motoring & Services.
NSW Centre for Road Safety Director Dr Soames Job said it was pleasing to see car manufacturers acknowledging the importance of vehicle safety.
"Producing safer vehicles is one part of the equation in reducing our road toll and another 5-star rated vehicle can only be good news for new car buyers, their families and all road users," Dr Job said.
Another new vehicle in the market - the Holden Barina Spark - received a 4-star rating in the latest round of testing.
NRMA vehicle safety expert Jack Haley said the Spark featured plenty of safety features including electronic stability control and six airbags as standard.
"It missed out on a 5-star rating because there was a risk of chest and knee injury in some crash testing," Mr Haley said.
"The Barina is proof that motorists can make safety a high priority when buying cheaper, smaller cars on the market."

There are now more reasons to smile. While Roadside Assistance remains at our heart, NRMA Membership now means so much more.
