Hunter Students Win Big In NRMA Everyday Sporting Legends

What do Cameron Park School and Kahibah Public School have in common? They have both won a $5,000 Rebel Sport Gift card courtesy of the 2009 NRMA Everyday Sporting Legends Program.

Cameron Park School will now be able to purchase sporting equipment to be to able to participate in a range of sports while Kahibah Public School girls' basketball team can get some much-needed training equipment and uniforms.

NRMA Director Kyle Loades said the NRMA and Rebel Sport teamed up for the first time last year to support sport in NSW and ACT communities with up to $150,000 in Rebel Sport gift cards up for grabs.

"The NRMA was flooded with entries from primary and secondary schools, sports teams and individuals wanting their chance to receive a $10,000, $5,000 or $500 Rebel Sport gift card," Mr Loades said.

"Cameron Park School and Kahibah Public School were two of fifteen winners throughout NSW and the ACT to receive a $5,000 Rebel Sport gift card.

"Cameron Park is a K-12 school for students with moderate to severe disabilities and would appreciate the opportunity to experience trampolining or the variety of activities and sports that new equipment would bring.

"The girls' basketball team at Kahibah Public School are the current Hunter Region representatives and have achieved this remarkable feat all without the use of a basketball court to train on.

"These are exactly the kind of sporting groups the NRMA Everyday Sporting Legends Program aims to help."

Mr Loades said the quality of entries for the first ever NRMA Everyday Sporting Legends Program was extremely impressive with a host of stories, photos and video footage submitted to support a variety of sporting goals from NSW and ACT communities.
