Lennox Head Helping Hand, Lynn Thorndycraft has been nominated in this year's NRMA Helping People Awards for her outstanding contribution to the community.
Lynn Thorndycraft has been nominated for a Community Volunteer Award for her work at the local St Vincent de Paul Society and the Camden Haven Meals on Wheels Association.
NRMA President Wendy Machin said NRMA launched the Helping People Awards in 2005 to shine a light on volunteers who rarely get recognised for their important community work.
"Mrs Thorndycraft's work in the community is an inspiring example of helping others and I encourage people to nominate a volunteer they know who also does amazing work," Ms Machin said.
Lynn's husband Claus said he nominated Lynn for an NRMA award because of her incredible passion for helping others.
"Despite an incredibly busy schedule with our three children, two who are deaf and one who is also dyslexic, Lynn volunteers regularly at St Vincent de Paul and Meals on Wheels," Mr Gecso said.
"Lynn also visits an elderly lady to help organise her bills and finances, supports a birthing centre in Bali, fundraises for an orphanage in Indonesia that houses street children and regularly contributes towards the medical expenses of one of the orphans.
"My wife has an open heart and gets involved wherever she is needed; she truly deserves a holiday and some relaxing time out for her efforts."
It's not too late to nominate someone you know who is a real Helping Hand. Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 13 August 2010:
The four winners will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two.
