Nine PCYC Lithgow volunteers have been nominated in this year's NRMA Helping People Awards for their outstanding contribution to the community.
NRMA Director Graham Blight said the nine volunteers from Little Hartley and Lithgow nominated for an NRMA Helping People Award were the lifeblood of the Lithgow PCYC and deserved to be recognised for their dedication.
"NRMA launched the Helping People Awards in 2005 to shine a light on volunteers who rarely get recognised for their important community work and I encourage people to nominate a volunteer they know who also does amazing work," Mr Blight said.
PCYC Club Manager Michelle Watts said she nominated the nine volunteers for an award because each of them contributed so much to the club without asking for anything in return.
"My volunteers coach a range of activities weekly including boxing, gymnastics, table tennis and belly dancing which club members enjoy immensely," Mrs Watts said.
"One of our volunteers Ms Sue Pillians, nominated for a Community Volunteer Award, holds our Traffic Offenders Intervention Program which educates traffic offenders. Sue was involved in a serious car accident herself and program participants have said her story changed their lives.
"We thank NRMA for making it possible for us to nominate our volunteers to receive the recognition that they all so clearly deserve."
It's not too late to nominate someone you know who is a real Helping Hand. Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 13 August 2010:
The four winners will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great Australian getaway for two.
