The NRMA has welcomed the NSW Government's Draft Central Coast Regional Transport Strategy that includes recommendations made by the NRMA in its Get The Central Coast Moving plan released in June this year.
NRMA Motoring & Services Director Kyle Loades said the Strategy included elements of an integrated transport system that were sorely needed on the Central Coast to move commuters within and in and out of the region.
"It is pleasing to see the Wyong Town Centre, North Warnervale railway station and the Central Coast Highway/Brisbane Water Drive/Manns Road intersection at West Gosford projects included, however the NRMA expects the NSW Government to identify funding venues and a timeline for completion in its final plan as per Sydney's Metropolitan Transport Plan," Mr Loades said.
"The NRMA's Get The Central Coast Moving transport discussion paper identified the need for more than just road and rail solutions and the Government's draft strategy plan will deliver exactly what the Central Coast community needs for getting in and out of and around the region.
"The NRMA is pleased that the timeline for the introduction of infrastructure is in unison with our transport plan and includes improved interchange facilities, completing missing road links, additional park and ride facilities and more buses.
"By 2035, the region's population is forecast to swell by one-quarter to over 400,000 and 45,000 extra local jobs are planned. The NRMA is pleased that the NSW Government has acknowledged this and planned infrastructure for the future of The Central Coast.
"The community wants to know exactly when infrastructure improvements are going to be carried out.
"Central Coast residents are encouraged to provide feedback to the Government regarding the draft transport strategy which can be provided until 26 November.
"The NRMA will continue to advocate for all of the infrastructure identified in Get The Central Coast Moving. These include the need for one ticket for one journey in the region regardless
of whether they are using a bus or train."
