NRMA Motoring & Services Deputy President Michael Tynan today welcomed an additional $10 million NSW Government contribution for safety improvements on Picton Road.
"The NRMA is pleased to learn work is progressing on one of the deadliest roads in the region," Mr Tynan said.
"Wire rope dividing east and west bound lanes couldn't come sooner as many Picton Road crashes have occurred when a vehicle crossed a lane.
"The construction of a police bay is welcome news. A visible police presence is the best deterrent for speeding drivers."
The NRMA will closely monitor work on Picton Road to ensure it is completed within the specified time frame.
Mr Tynan said the NRMA will be interested in crash statistics on Picton Road after safety improvements are completed and will assess what additional improvements may be needed.
