NRMA Motoring & Services publishing staff recently stopped work on the Open Road magazine and put their artistic abilities to the test during an art therapy workshop fundraiser at Sunnyfield Enterprises at Lisarow.
Sunnyfield is one of the largest disability service providers in NSW.
NRMA Director Kyle Loades said the fundraising day was a great success with NRMA graphic designers and staff joining forces with the talented, intellectually disabled. Sunnyfield artists to create two impressive pieces of art.
"One was a striking collage of black and white images taken from previous Tuggerah Lakes Mardi Gras events while the other was a large and colourful 'expressionist' painting with a Mardi Gras theme," Mr Loades said.
"The art will be auctioned at the next Tuggerah Lakes Mardi Gras to be held in Memorial Park at The Entrance on Saturday, 27 November.
"The Sunnyfield Creative Art Auction will be held between 12:25pm and 1:00pm at the Memorial Park Stage.
"The NRMA is proud to support Sunnyfield in its dedicated work of helping people with intellectual disabilities to achieve active and independent lives in the community."
NRMA Head of Content Reg Chamberlain helped the Sunnyfield artists with their artworks and said the NRMA Publishing team jumped at the chance to be a part of the project.
"We had a fantastic day and helped to produce two fantastic pieces of artwork which any local business would be proud to hang in their office," Mr Chamberlain said.
"The NRMA supports the commitment of its staff to help out in the community with one day's paid leave each year to spend volunteering.
"Sunnyfield is one of NRMA's five charity partners and we proudly support them with innovative fundraising ideas and staff volunteer projects throughout the year."
