Keeping the pedal to the metal

For Boval Engineering, keeping their two company trucks on the road at all times is critical. And in the last year alone, the company has twice found that NRMA coverage has been instrumental to ensuring this happens.

"We probably deliver 98% of our products ourselves, and our customers are located everywhere from the greater Sydney area to Wollongong and Newcastle, and occasionally even Melbourne. So it's essential we have our trucks available at all times," explains Boval General Manager, Greg Coleman.

The company has five vehicles with NRMA BusinessWise Absolute – three cars and two trucks – all of which are essential to day-to-day business operations.

"We went with BusinessWise Absolute because in a business like ours you need to have the support of an organisation like the NRMA behind you, so that in the unfortunate situation that you do have a breakdown, which of course does happen, you can act swiftly and do whatever’s required to get back on the road. NRMA has always provided good service in that area, so that's why we chose them."

A recent incident saw a truck that was returning to base unexpectedly break down on a freeway, resulting in a major traffic jam. Boval's driver automatically phoned NRMA who were out there in less than an hour. "The promptness of the service was the main thing for us. They were able to do exactly what was required – which in this instance was to get the truck off the freeway and straight to the mechanics – so we didn't have to muck around, and the truck driver was able to get right back to work. The service rep was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing."

In addition to the huge advantage of making sure their delivery trucks are never out of commission for long, Boval Engineering also likes NRMA's pay-on-account battery service. In at least one recent instance, one of their salesman's battery died, so this service was used to get him going again, without him having to pay out of pocket or have the car towed to a mechanic.

Another truck-related breakdown this year saw a casual truck driver burn out the clutch on one of Boval's trucks. "They were professional and helpful," Coleman says. "We've used the service twice in the last 12 months for our trucks and in both cases we’ve had nothing but praise for NRMA."
