NRMA Mobile Member Centre Fleet Coordinator Ben Michael, said the importance of road, vehicle and driver safety would be highlighted at the Spring Home and Leisure Show through interactive crash test videos and online road safety activities.
?The latest safety feature for heavy vehicles, FUPS (front underrun protection system), which prevents cars underrunning the truck cab greatly reducing the risk of serious injury, will be on display at the NRMA Mobile Member Centre,? Mr Michael said.
?NRMA has been advocating for many years that all truck manufacturers fit FUPS as a standard safety feature to all heavy vehicles in Australia.
?We want all heavy vehicles to become safer on the road.
?This is the first time NRMA´s new Mobile Member Centre has attended the Spring Home and Leisure Show and we encourage all visitors to check out the new Volvo super truck packed with all the latest safety features.?
Local residents and visitors to the show can see how NRMA is supporting its members and the local community. Fact sheets on alternative fuels and road safety are available as well as fun interactive games for kids.
Mr Michael said NRMA´s longstanding partnership in safety with Volvo Trucks and Subaru had made it possible to provide practical ways of demonstrating road safety to the community.
?We are handing out free tyre safety gauges to help combat unnecessary breakdowns in the community and to remind drivers to check this vital but often neglected safety aspect,? Mr Michael said.
?And don´t forget we are still offering free roadside assistance to 17 and 18 year olds for 12 months.?
