Increase in highway patrols welcomed

NRMA Motoring & Services has welcomed today´s announcement by the NSW Opposition that they will increase highway patrols by one-third.

NRMA CEO, Tony Stuart, said recruiting an extra 300 highway patrols will help make NSW roads safer.

?Over 90 per cent of motorists have identified highway patrols as the most effective way to counter speeding and other dangerous driving ? it´s what the public wants to make the roads safer,? Mr Stuart said.

?Fixed speed cameras and other technology do have a role to play in areas of a crash history.

?However, nothing will slow a speeding driver down or get them to drive more safely than the fear that a highway patrol may be waiting around the corner.?
