Busy bees help local kids

More than 50 NRMA volunteers recently spent a busy day at the Haven Education Centre in Terrigal to support the Centre's students and provide a much needed renovation rescue.

NRMA Director Kyle Loades attended the Working Bee cleaning and cooking up a storm throughout the day to feed the hungry volunteers.

Mr Loades said the NRMA was proud to support the Haven Education Centre which helps Central Coast students who have had difficulties coping with mainstream education prepare for re-entry back into the school system.

"Haven Education Centre staff work with the students and their families to prepare tailored educational programs to help them get back on track to attain their school certificate," Mr Loades said.

"The NRMA Gosford Call Centre team are particularly passionate in their support of the Centre recently donating six computers to replace those stolen in an untimely break in."

NRMA staff from Newcastle and throughout Sydney also came to volunteer their services on the day which included painting, building repairs and putting together gym equipment for the students.

Mr Loades said everyone pulled together to make the day a success.

"The NRMA is committed to helping the Haven Education Centre which relies on donations and volunteer efforts to keep running," Mr Loades said.

"NRMA will hold a car battery roundup next month to raise funds for the Haven from each battery collected.

"The Great Battery Roundup on 13 September calls for people to bring in their old batteries for recycling."
