Functions of the Committee
The Policy and Advocacy Committee (Committee) is a Committee of the Board of Directors (Board) of NRMA.
The Committee does not have executive powers or policy responsibility, except as set out in this Charter, or as delegated by the Board from time to time.
Responsibilities
The Committee's primary responsibilities are to:
- review and, if appropriate, approve or amend existing public policies as advocated by NRMA consistent with the objects set out in its Constitution (Public Policies), as recommended by management;
- refer to management for consideration, advice and recommendation, changes to, cessations of, or additions in, Public Policies proposed by the members of the Committee or other Board members;
- have regard to information relevant to the development and revision of Public Policies, such as public opinion and stakeholder surveys, demographic trends, transport finance statistics, developments in vehicle and other technology and relationships between the three spheres of government; and
- perform any other review or function relevant to NRMA that may be requested by the Board from time to time.
Independent Advice
The Committee may consult independent experts at the expense of NRMA where it considers such consultation necessary to carry out its duties.
Frequency of Meetings
The Committee will meet at least four times per calendar year and additionally as required.
Membership and Protocols
Membership of the Committee and the protocols and processes applying to the Committee will be in accordance with the Protocols For NRMA Board Committees document.
