Community activities

Community activities
Our growing dedication and commitment to the community guarantees NRMA will be a familiar face around town and beyond in 2006, sponsoring a host of community activities and events.

This is just another way we are helping people and giving more back to our Members.

Driver reviver

Long distance trips are a way of life for many Australians wishing to travel this vast continent. NRMA recognises the importance of safety and awareness during extended driving periods.

In an effort to provide a safer journey for travellers NRMA Motoring & Services has been helping the volunteers who operate the Driver Reviver sites across NSW. On your next big journey stop by and say hello to the Driver Reviver volunteers, pick up a cuppa and grab a ?Backseat Science´ game for the kids.

More information on  Driver Reviver sites and their locations (PDF 1.9MB/2 pages).

Big Issue

NRMA Motoring & Services is all about helping people and as an organisation we recognise the plight of many of Australia´s disadvantaged. Part of this recognition has led us to provide support to  Big Issue magazine.

The Big Issue is an informative publication, providing insightful material on current events and hot topics, both locally and around the globe. Their motto is ?helping people help themselves' and proceeds from the magazine go directly to the poor and disadvantaged. NRMA provides the Big Issue with event kits and cardboard display stands.

Mobile Member Centre

The NRMA Mobile Member Centre is a free multi-purpose semi trailer that offers regional and rural Members the latest information on Member Benefits, crash test results, NRMA´s involvement in road safety, fact sheets, maps and guides plus free internet access to NRMA´s on-line Member services.

Helping People Awards

The Helping People Awards recognise and reward our unsung heroes who volunteer their time to make our communities a better place to live.

Those nominated for the Helping People Awards embody good old fashioned community values and are always willing to give their time to help someone in need with no expectation of anything in return.

Staff Volunteering

NRMA Motoring & Services staff have a long and proud tradition of helping people by volunteering in their local community. Nine charity partners have been selected by NRMA staff and represent a diverse range of charities.

Wildlife signs

Australian consumption of native bushland for the use of roads and highways has caused many Australian native animals to become road users too. NRMA understands the plight of Australian wildlife, and recognises the danger, and financial burden to motorists, when animal and vehicle collisions occur.

To help prevent this, NRMA is lending support to the  Wildcare rescue service.

Through this NRMA has provided funding for wildlife sign postings. Signs will be placed in key locations throughout south east NSW, helping create an awareness amongst motorists that many Australian animals do inhabit surrounding roads and precautions must be taken travelling through the area. More information on Wildcare or call (02) 6299 1966.

ClubsNSW

NRMA Motoring and Services recently formed an alliance with  ClubsNSW to ensure the future of club-sponsored community activities.

ClubsNSW, which represents individual clubs across the State, and the NRMA are two of the State´s largest community organisations with a combined membership of 4.5million adults.

This new partnership is designed to promote the interests of respective memberships and support community activities.

Both organisations have identified key ways in which they can continue to provide significant benefits to their combined memberships and local communities and are currently planning some joint initiatives. More information about ClubsNSW.

?Think Before You Drive´ Coasters

Over the Easter weekend NRMA and ClubsNSW were encouraging motorists to think about how much they had to drink before they got behind the wheel.

To help remind motorists of this important message, NRMA Motoring & Services and Clubs NSW provided ?Think Before You Drive´ coasters to some 600 clubs across NSW. The coasters are just another way we can continue to drive home the safer driving message.
