Community Involvement

Community Involvement
Our growing dedication and commitment to the community guarantees NRMA will be a familiar face around town and beyond in 2008, sponsoring a host of community activities and events.

This is just another way we are helping people and giving more back to our Members.

Helping People Awards 2008

The Helping People Awards recognise and reward our unsung heroes who volunteer their time to make our communities a better place to live.

Those nominated for the NRMA Helping People Awards embody good old fashioned community values and are always willing to give their time to help someone in need with no expectation of anything in return.

NRMA Group CEO, Tony Stuart said "NRMA has a long history of helping its Members and the community with their journeys since 1920". The NRMA first launched the NRMA Helping People Awards in 2005 following research which revealed people's sense of community and willingness to help each other had diminished. The NRMA Helping People Awards aim to encourage people to think about the importance of community and helping each other and to take action and offer help themselves.

Nominations for the NRMA Helping People Awards 2008 are now open.

We are celebrating volunteers in our community by giving them a chance to receive some fantastic holiday breaks and donate $5000 to their charity!

If you know someone in NSW or the ACT who deserves recognition, nominate them today.

Staff Volunteering

The team at NRMA Motoring & Services have a long and proud tradition of helping the community by committing their time, energy and enthusiasm to those in need. Volunteers from our three NSW offices take part in a range of activities throughout the year.

As part of NRMA Motoring & Services' company policy, we provide one days paid leave for staff to volunteer for a local charity. This initiative provides staff members with the opportunity to contribute their skills and make a real difference. Our staff are also recognised for volunteering their own time to support charity projects.

In 2006/07, over 20 per cent of NRMA Motoring & Services staff volunteered their time to support NRMA's corporate charity partners. This is equivalent to 200 staff. We aim to increase this participation rate by at least 5 per cent in 2007/08.

NRMA Motoring & Services' staff also contribute to a workplace giving program, providing a regular donation to their charity/s of choice. This enables not-for profit organisations to receive valuable resources throughout the year.
