NRMA Motorfest 2009

NRMA Motorfest 2009

Sharing the passion of motoring

Australia Day 2009, Macquarie and College St in the Sydney CBD was  transformed into a huge line up of over 1000 vintage, veteran and classic cars as part of the 24th year of NRMA Motorfest®. All vehicles on display were at least 30 years old, however the ever-popular mighty Mini Minor had reached its 50th year and the British Morgan and American Hudson were this year's centenarians.

Proud vehicle owners arrived in the CBD from the early hours of the morning and were happy to answer questions, share memories and experiences with the public throughout the day.

The NRMA Village

All things Travel
The NRMA Village at NRMA Motorfest® 2009 had something for everyone with Martin Place transformed into a Travel Zone complete with NRMA Travel, NRMA Holiday Parks, Thrifty & Travelodge. There were competitions to be won for all the family and, for the brave, Australian reptiles to get up close and personal with.

Motoring showcase
Of course, we're always known for our expertise in Motoring and the NRMA Village had our vast array of Motoring products and services on show. Members could get special offers on our NRMA Publications and talk to our friendly staff about NRMA Membership discounts made available just for Australia Day.

With over 85 years on the road, you could peruse NRMA patrol vans from our vintage fleet right through to our recently launched Mobile Response Units.

The  ever popular, interactive Mobile Member Centre  was also on show, taking a break from travelling through regional and rural NSW and the ACT. Attendees could also try their hand at beating our patrols at changing a tyre and our Motoring Advice and Education team could advise you if you were looking at buying a car.

Something for the kids
The fun continued down at St Mary's Cathedral Forecourt with interactive mini carts that kids could "drive" and learn about pedestrian and road safety. With free face painting and the Mount Panorama scalextric, the kids' zone delighted children of all ages.
