Features & benefits

Features
Benefits
Calcium-Calcium technology

Less gas emissions which allows the container to be fully sealed. The battery does not lose water as quickly as other technology and is therefore less likely to fail under extreme heat.

Maintenance free

Members do not need to worry about topping up the water in their battery.

36 month warranty

We are so confident in the quality of our new batteries that we are extending the warranty to 36 months on the premium range.

Fully sealed containers

Eliminates accidental acid spillage which can harm the member, their car and the environment.

Longer shelf life

Batteries can now be stored for up to 32 weeks (in a 25°C environment) which means Members will receive fresh product at the time of purchase, and stockists can store a more extensive range.

Magic eye charge indicator

Tests the specific gravity of one cell which assists the diagnosis of a fully sealed battery. A quick reference guide for Members and patrols to advise if the battery needs charging or replacing.

Expanded grid technology

Grids are made from a rolling system rather than a hot lead mould which ensures a consistent quality. The diamond shape and fine mesh construction also improves conductivity.

Carry handle  All batteries come with a carry handle for easier and safer handling.

FAQs

Why do Batteries Fail?
On average, a battery will last three and a half years. Once it starts to fail, it rarely responds to re-charging. This is usually because the battery positive plates self-destruct, leaving no plate left to hold enough charge to start a vehicle.

What are CCAs?
Cold Cranking Amps is an industry term. This term describes the battery's ability to deliver amps at -18°C. The CCAs required vary, depending on the vehicle's engine size and accessories. The NRMA Battery Service is happy to advise you on the correct battery for your vehicle.

What is the magic eye indicator?
The complete range of NRMA Batteries features a ?Magic Eye? indicator.

The magic eye indicator :

  • Uses a built-in hydrometer to indicate the state-of-charge at a glance
  • Tests the specific gravity of one cell in the battery
  • Members know instantly the state of charge of their battery

The indicator conditions are:

Improved terminal design

NRMA Batteries weld zone Standard battery weld zone

All NRMA Batteries come with a larger welding zone on the battery terminal than other manufactures batteries. This larger weld zone results in a higher quality terminal weld which provides durability, increases resistance to vibration damage and this durability lasts cycle after cycle.

Furthermore the special longer groove and glue of used to seal the battery terminal to the lid of all NRMA batteries prevents acid leakage.

Expanded grid plate with fibre reinforced plate technology

Inside NRMA Batteries a Wrought High-Tin Calcium Grid plate is used. For Members this means their battery will:

  • Resist grid-corrosion and overcharging
  • Minimise gassing and water-loss
  • Minimise self-discharge
  • The paste on each plate is cured for 14 hours and then covered in special tissue designed to retain paste strength
  • As seen below the patented fibre reinforced plates are truly something that sets NRMA Batteries apart from other batteries in the marketplace. The end result is a battery plate covered in pulp which is 2 times stronger, 5 times thicker and has 10 times more elasticity when compared with common pulp.

Low Profile Plates
Lower profile plates in all NRMA Batteries increases the electrolyte volume above plates. This additional electrolyte volume allows plates to be protected and avoid severe acid starvation, providing a more durable and longer life battery.
