Patrols donate $5,000 to help Newcastle families

NRMA road service patrols today donated $5,000 to Ronald McDonald House to help accommodate the families of seriously ill or injured children being treated at Newcastle hospitals.
NRMA's Northern NSW Business Manager, Mr Mike Wynne, today
joined patrols Jace Wild, John Barnard and Aris Tsimos to present
the cheque to Mr Ross Bingham, Executive Officer of Ronald McDonald
House in the Hunter.Ronald McDonald House is located on the grounds of John Hunter
Hospital.Mr Wynne said the patrols had decided to give the money - which
was raised through sales of NRMA batteries and car electrics
services - to children's hospitals."NRMA has 21 patrols in the Newcastle area, who all work very
hard to deliver world-class road service to our members," Mr Wynne
said."In the past 12 months our patrols have attended to over 72,000
road service calls in the greater Newcastle area. Their dedication
and expertise has enabled them to get more than 95 per cent of
vehicles going again without a tow."NRMA President, Mrs Maree Callaghan, said the patrols' decision
to donate their own money to charity was an example of their
commitment to the community."Every day, our patrols work to ensure that motorists and their
families can still get to and from work, school and the shops with
the minimum of fuss even if they break down on the way,"
MrsCallaghan said.Mr Bingham said the $5,000 donation would enable NRMA to sponsor
Room No.1 at Ronald McDonald House for 12 months.Across Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and Canberra NRMA patrols
have raised more than $40,000 through NRMA battery sales and car
electric services, with all proceeds given to charity.Other charities to receive money include the Children's Hospital
at Westmead, the Children's Ward of Wollongong Hospital, Randwick
Children's Hospital Occupation Therapy Unit and Child Flight
Helicopter Service.
