NRMA today welcomed the NSW Governments decision to reduce the
blood alcohol limit for L and P-plate drivers to zero.
NRMA Motoring & Services Acting General Manager, Member
& Community Relations, Mr Alan Finlay, said that NRMA presented
its position at the Premiers Alcohol Summit in August this year and
had lobbied the NSW Government to reduce the NSW BAC limit for L
and P-plate drivers.
NRMA is delighted the State Government has accepted NRMAs
call for a zero BAC for L and P-plate drivers particularly as we
head into the Christmas season.
NRMAs own research found that the introduction of a zero BAC
for drivers under 21 years in some US jurisdictions resulted in a
20 per cent decline in crashes likely to involve alcohol, Mr Finlay
said.
