Country motorists will continue to be towed to the nearest NRMA
Country Service Centre in the event of a breakdown, following the
introduction of new membership fees announced today.
NRMA Motoring & Services President, Ross Turnbull, said he
wanted to reassure members in regional and rural areas that they
would continue to be helped in the same way in the event of a
breakdown.
Mr Turnbull said he was concerned by some media reports
suggesting that there was a 20 kilometre limit on the amount of
towing available to members in country areas.
"If you break down in the country NRMA will tow you to the
nearest Country Service Centre the new membership fees do not
change that entitlement," Mr Turnbull said.
"Eight or 20 kilometre towing limits only apply in
metropolitan areas, depending on the kind of membership members
choose.
"Any suggestion that country members will be disadvantaged by
the new membership fees is wrong."
