NRMA members may experience long delays tomorrow if road service patrols follow union demands to disrupt services over the companys proposed enterprise agreement.
NRMA Motoring & Services General Manager Road Service, Mr Peter Steele, said that by demanding patrols stop work on the day of the companys AGM the union was trying to distract attention from
the fact they are refusing to work towards a sustainable outcome.
The union has refused to talk to NRMA management about the companys proposal, rejected NRMAs offer of arbitration and also rejected an invitation to a circuit breaker meeting chaired by the Secretary of the NSW Labor council.
NRMA patrols are the only part of the company being offered a guarantee of no forced redundancies and an offer of an 11% pay rise.
The union is still demanding a ban on patrol owner drivers/contractors in Sydney which is out of alignment with every other interstate motoring club.
NRMA hopes patrols will put members needs first and turn up to work tomorrow to ensure members dont suffer long delays at the hands of the union, Mr Steele said.
NRMA will put contingencies in place to ensure services to our members are maintained.
NRMA management still has the highest respect for our patrol officers and hopes commonsense will prevail, Mr Steele said.
Road service in Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra and Newcastle will be affected by union action this Friday. Services outside these metropolitan centres and across regional NSW will continue to
be served by NRMAs network of contractors/owner-drivers.
