Rock Eisteddfod

Win a $5000 Grant for your School! 5 up for Grabs!

Rock Eisteddfod Challenge® is a student-performance competition with 50 heats running throughout Australia between May and September, ending in a Grand Finale to be held at the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Students from 400 schools choose a theme of their choice and perform to contemporary music for eight minutes.

NRMA Motoring & Services is proud to be a sponsor in the 2007 Rock Eisteddfod Challenge®.

As part of our sponsorship of Rock Eisteddfod Challenge®, NRMA is eager to raise road safety awareness among young people and is offering the chance for schools to win a $5,000 grant.

Schools with a performance focussing on the dangers of high risk behaviour and driving will be eligible to win one of the five $5,000 prizes. To qualify, school performances must explore the risks young people face, the role of peer pressure and the impact on family and friends of a crash.

Judging criteria
Judging will be based on how well a school integrates the selected road safety and risk issues into their performance. We don't judge on how fancy your performance is or how many special effects you use. If the message is right - YOUR SCHOOL CAN WIN!

Some considerations when putting your performance together

  • Young people account for only 15 per cent of licence holders but over a third of road fatalities
  • A 17-year-old driver with a P1 licence is four times more likely to be involved in a fatal crash than a driver aged 26 or older
  • Risks for young people when driving are increased by:
      1. lack of driving experience
      2. number of passengers
      3. distractions including music or mobile phones
      4. driving at night
      5. speeding
      6. using alcohol & drugs.
