200-Series Cruiser Scales New Heights!

Author: Trent NikolicDate: 3 August 2011

Toyota has launched a new special edition LandCruiser 200 Series, that packs a host of added new features to the already popular package.

The new LandCrusier 200 Series 'Altitude' get a range of upgrades that make it an even more enticing option including 18in alloy wheels (same as Sahara model), leather-accented interior, power-operated driver and front-passenger seats, and satellite navigation - over and above the GXL on which it is based.  It also has a premium steering wheel with audio controls, premium gearshift knob, front fog lamps and cool box - a feature traditionally reserved for top-of-the-range Sahara.

Interestingly, Toyota will ensure the vehicle is highly sought after with a limited run meaning production numbers are limited. The vehicle will only be produced in Japan in the months of June, September, October and November.

As with the normal range, the LandCruiser 200 Altitude is offered with the choice of V8 petrol or twin-turbo V8 diesel engines - both with electronically controlled automatic transmissions. The 4.7-litre Quad Cam V8 model has the added feature of Kinetic Dynamic Suspension (KDSS), which gives the vehicle long wheel articulation for challenging off-road driving and the high roll rigidity required for on-road roll control. Prices start from $80,190 the Altitude petrol model.

In the cabin, the Altitude special edition features a Grey or Sand Beige leather-accented interior, with power fore/aft and height adjustment for the driver and front-passenger seat. It also has touch-screen satellite navigation with AUX input and Bluetooth connectivity.

Outside, you’ll know it’s an Altitude Special Edition LandCruiser thanks to a unique special edition exterior colour - Crystal Pearl – which is available with the beige interior trim. This colour was previously only exclusive to top of the range Sahara. The Altitude is also available with Silver Pearl, Graphite and Blue Storm exterior paint, all with Grey leather-accented seat trim. Exterior badging also designates it as an Altitude model.
