The most successful business class Avant in Europe, the A6 Avant has been reinvigorated with the launch of the next generation model. Importantly for Audi, the new model delivers the brand’s full array of progressive technical expertise including incredible safety, weight saving techniques and multimedia functionality. .

True to recent Audi form, the A6 Avant will be available with no less than six engine variants in Europe, two petrol and four diesel units. The top of the range model is fitted with the new 3.0 TDI, twin turbo engine that generates 230kW.

Station wagons are often the default family vehicle in Europe and as such, the luggage space is flexible and impressively large at 1680-litres with the rear seats folded down. The rear hatch is powered and opens via a remote a signal. The attractive and curvaceous body is constructed from large portions of aluminium, which keeps weight down and helps deliver a curb weight of 1640kg. 20 percent of the total structure is lightweight aluminium. Bucking the modern trend of ever heavier vehicles, the new A6 is actually 70kg lighter than the outgoing model.

Depending on your choice of engine, the A6 is available with either a 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic automatic, the continuously variable multitronic or the 8-speed tiptronic gearbox. There’s plenty to like about the broad spread of shifting options. In addition to FWD, there’s also Audi’s legendary Quattro system available as an option. Whichever way you look at it, the new A6 Avant is a stunning vehicle.
