Chery Turns Sour?

Chery Turns Sour?

Author: Trent NikolicDate: 3 August 2011

Chery’s J1 sedan has been affected by the recall, announced this morning. In motoring speak, ‘under certain operating conditions, the integrity of the seat frame structure may be compromised’.  Further, ‘there is an internal non conformity of both front seat backs’. Whatever that actually boils down to, it doesn’t sound great, so Chery has asked owners to return their vehicles to service centres to have the problem rectified.

Chery has committed to contacting all customers and advising them to take their vehicles directly back into their dealership. The dealer will then remove both front seats from the vehicle and replace the backrest assembly on each seat. Both front seats will be refitted to the vehicle using the new mounting bolts as per the recommendations of the manufacturer.

A spokesperson from Chery could not be contacted for comment.
