Borneo is a land of natural riches, with orang utans, granite peaks and remote tribes still rich in their unique culture.

It is also the site of one of Australia’s darkest war-time tragedies. The 250km ‘Death March’ from Sandakan to Ranau claimed many Australian and New Zealand lives and today remains an episode from World War II many would prefer to forget. Others, however, find the chance to tread on this path a wonderful chance for connection and healing and on our trip you’ll have the opportunity to do just that. In contrast you’ll encounter some of the amazing wildlife that makes Borneo such a hauntingly fascinating country. We’ll visit the Sepilok Orang Utan Centre and Turtle Island to watch turtles lay their eggs.
