Discover the West MacDonnell Ranges

Commence with 360 degree panoramic views from the summit of Anzac Hill before travelling alongside the rugged West MacDonnell Ranges. Stop at Flynn’s Grave, explore the dramatic feature of Simpsons Gap and enjoy a short walk along the stony watercourse before arriving at majestic Angkerle (Standley Chasm). Walk through its towering fiery red walls before returning to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch with traditional billy tea and coffee boiled on an open campfire. Picnic lunch, Desert Park entry fees and return transfers included. Fitness: Low to moderate level of fitness required

Take in the fresh air, historic significance and natural beauty of Alice Springs before you head south on the historic rail journey in Gold Service on The Ghan. Whilst onboard all your meals will be provided including a three coarse dinner.  Upon arrival into Adelaide you will be transferred to your hotel for an afternoon of leisure.

Adelaide

Situated only 1km from the city centre, the Grand Chifley Adelaide overlooks the beautiful south parklands with views east to the Adelaide Hills or west to the Coast. The free city tram is just a 5 minute walk from the hotel and a great way to get around town. Recently refurbished, the Grand Chifley Adelaide suits everyone. Amenities include: swimming pool, restaurant & bar, room service, wheelchair access, concierge service, free parking, porterage and self service laundry

The next day you will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a city sights tour of Adelaide showcasing its cosmopolitan blend of European and modern architecture, renown food, wine and relaxed unwinding lifestyle. This tour is an ideal introduction to the Adelaide way of life. Highlights include: Victoria Square, River Torrens, Colonel Light’s Lookout, Zoological and Botanic Gardens, Haigh’s Chocolates Tour (not available on Sundays), Adelaide Cricket Oval, Glenelg Beach precinct, Central Market and North Terrace Drive. 

Barossa Valley

The next day you will visit one of Australia’s oldest and best known winemaking regions, the Barossa Valley.  This intimate tour is designed for the more serious wine lovers and provides a brilliant cross section of the finest wines the Barossa Valley has to offer (Wolf Blass, Beer Bros. Wines and Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, Barossa Valley Estates, Langmeil Winery and Chateau Tanunda). Includes: Touring, regional platter lunch at a winery, structured wine tastings, vineyard tour, barrel tasting and return hotel transfers

After a day of rest in Adelaide you are back on the rail trail, spending overnight on the Indian Pacific journey in Gold Service from Adelaide to Sydney.  Again all meals on board are included.
